2023 Fund-a-Need: Seattle Prep – a School Where Safety, Learning and Community Thrive
To preserve Prep’s unique urban campus, we recognize the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance security measures while providing optimal learning spaces. We have a commitment to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, faculty and visitors. Following a comprehensive security audit conducted in the spring, Prep has identified critical areas for improvement to secure our campus and create a safer environment for our community.
This year, our Fund-A-Need initiative is focused on the following security enhancements: Create Front Door Monitoring Systems: To provide enhanced security, we will install state-of-the-art monitoring systems with card readers at all entry points.
This technology will allow us to keep our doors locked at all times, ensuring that only staff, faculty and students with key cards can access the buildings. A monitoring system is a proactive step toward maintaining a secure learning environment and has been implemented at many schools throughout the country.
Define Single Point of Entry: Creating a single, well-defined point of entry for visitors is a paramount priority. With clear wayfinding signage, we will guide our guests to a designated entrance that will include upgraded security cameras and a buzz-in feature. This ensures that every visitor is welcomed warmly while also enabling the school to monitor and control access effectively.
Upgrade Public Address System: A robust Public Address System is essential for communication, safety, and community engagement. Due to our campus having multiple buildings, should one building initiate a response to a threat it is imperative that all buildings be informed and engage in safety protocols. The system will allow for a pre-recorded announcement and immediate notification to the police should a threat be present. Our proposed upgrades include the addition of speakers and visual indicators in strategic locations such as the plaza and parking garage, implementation of an application software for emergency systems, and enhance the quality of public announcements.
Your Support Matters: Our goal is to raise $280,000 to complete these security enhancements. Your contributions will directly impact the well-being of our students and provide the necessary security and belonging that defines our community. Thank you!
We ask, if you are able, to contribute what you can to this essential need that helps make Seattle Prep who we are.
Thank you for giving generously to this year’s Fund-a-Need!
